October in Iceland

Welcome to Iceland - Photos by Christopher Lisle

Winter approaches as noted by the sun’s height at noon. Storms in the higher elevations produce the seasons first snows while the lower lands receive their share of rain. The rivers are starting to rush as sediment and stormwater drops from otherwise tranquil waterfalls. Fall is in the air.

We drove and camped in a few places we had been last year along with some new ones – The F roads we traveled on seemed to have had a lot of recent rain. Camping below this crater was not possible this year as the approaching road was washed out.
